Alleged whistleblower’s attorney tweeted ‘Coup has started’ in 2017

Mark Zaid is reportedly one of the attorneys representing the alleged whistleblower in the middle of the impeachment inquiry has a series of tweets dating back to 2017 that push for impeachment.

Fox News reports, “The tweets, which came shortly after President Trump fired then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates for failing to defend federal laws in court, are likely to fuel Republican concerns that the anonymous whistleblower’s complaint is tainted with partisanship. Trump’s call with Ukraine’s leader, which is the subject of the complaint, occurred in July 2019.”

President Trump was informed of Zaid’s tweets as he stepped off of Air Force One before his rally in Monroe, Louisiana. During the rally, he called Zaid a “sleazeball” and read some of the tweets featured in this article to the crowd.

In January of 2017, shortly after President Trump took office, Zaid tweeted, “Coup has started. First of many steps. Rebellion. Impeachment will follow ultimately.”

This wasn’t the only time Zaid tweeted about impeaching President Trump. Some of the other examples can be read below.

GOP leader Kevin McCarthy responded to Zaid’s tweets saying, “we should take him at his word that this is a coordinated, premeditated plot to overturn the election.”
