Alpine gunfire leads to one arrest

ALPINE (CNS) – Gunfire erupted at an East County apartment complex early
Thursday, prompting deputies to detain a group of people for questioning and
arrest one of them.

The non-injury shooting occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the 2000
block of Arnold Way in Alpine, according to sheriff's officials.

Arriving patrol personnel discovered shell casings in front of one of
the rental units at the complex but found no gunshot victims or property
damage, Lt. Clayton Lisk said. The deputies took five people into custody for
questioning, eventually releasing four of them and jailing the other on an
unrelated warrant, the lieutenant said.

It was unclear what led to the gunfire, though a loud gathering at the
residence where it occurred had led to a noise complaint earlier in the night,
sheriff's officials told reporters.
