American Legion post burglarized in Encinitas

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Thieves broke into American legion post 416 in Encinitas last night and stole approximately $1,500 in cash, said the commander of the post.

The suspects pried open the backdoor and stole money that was supposed to be spent on scholarships to send students to Boys State, a summer leadership and citizenship program for high schoolers.

The post has been around since 1932 and serves over 100 World War II and Korean War veterans.
