Americanos bus catches fire on I-5

SAN DIEGO – An Americanos bus traveling North bound on I-5 to Los Angeles caught fire Thursday night near Gilman Dr., near La Jolla.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke coming from it. 

Lanes three and four were shut down.

29 passengers were on board, including the driver. Most of the passengers on board were from Mexico and only spoke Spanish.

Alternative transportation is expected to pick up stranded passengers. No reports of injuries.

Firefighters were on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
