An 89-year-old bicyclist hit by pickup truck

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A pickup truck struck and severely injured an 89-year-old bicyclist on a Mountain View-area street Tuesday.

The octogenarian pedaled out of a parking lot in the 4300 block of Imperial Avenue and rode to the north directly in front of the westbound vehicle shortly after 10 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took him to a hospital for treatment of a broken pelvis and serious head trauma, SDPD Dan Lasher said.

No other injuries were reported.
