Andrew Jackson to be replaced on $20 bill by Harriet Tubman
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Andrew Jackson has been kicked off the $20 bill and Harriet Tubman is in.
The U.S. Secretary announced Wednesday the U.S. Treasury will be placing the abolitionist and union spy Harriet Tubman, on the $20 bill.
Tubman will become the first woman and Africa-American featured on paper currency for over 100 years.
And the Treasury will also be adding key leaders in the women’s suffrage movement on the back of the $5 and $10 bills.
The last woman to be featured on paper currency was Martha Washington in 1880, when the circulation of the $1 started.
This new set of American bills will be circulated in 2020.
