Angels Foster Family Network celebrates 20th anniversary
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – May is Foster Care Awareness Month and Angels Foster Family Network is celebrating its 20th anniversary Friday, May 10th with a “Fostering Futures” gala.
The event is at the San Diego Bayside Hilton downtown starting at 5:30 p.m.
The organization said 2,300 children in San Diego are in the foster care system and 40% are under five years old.
Angels Foster Family Network is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains, and supports individuals, couples, and families who can offer a stable, loving home to a single infant or toddler (or sibling set) for their entire stay in foster care. This means, no bouncing around from home to home. It also means that children receive the individual care they need and deserve.
Sadly, Angels must turn away two-thirds of the calls it receives from the County because there is a shortage of foster families, according to Angels Forster Family Network.
The “Fostering Futures” fundraiser will support efforts to identify and train foster parents.
