Freight train hits Bus after bus collides with car
LOS ANGELES
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a collision between a car and a bus forced the bus onto railroad tracks where it was later hit by a freight train.
KCBS-TV reports Los Angeles Fire dispatcher Margaret Stewart says four people were injured in the initial crash, which happened early Monday morning.
Authorities say a woman driving the car was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but she is expected to recover.
Police say two men also were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth patient declined to be transported. All three had been on the bus at the time of the collision.
Authorities say the two crashes happened from 5-10 minutes apart.
Metrolink says the investigation will not affect service.
