Apparent gang-related shooting in Emerald Hills sends two to hospital

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were hospitalized Tuesday after the vehicle they were in was fired upon in Emerald Hills in an apparent gang-related attack, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Pyramid Street around 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The victims were two of four males seated in the vehicle when the shooting occurred at a stop sign, he said in a statement, adding that the shooter was a 16- or 17-year-old boy who approached on foot and fired off seven rounds into the vehicle.

The 15-year-old victim was wounded in the shoulder and the 18-year-old man was hit in the leg, Delimitros said.  Neither wound was believed to be life-threatening.

Gang detectives were investigating.
