Armed robbery suspects arrested in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE (CNS) – Two men who robbed someone at gunpoint behind an Oceanside convenience store early Tuesday were arrested together a couple hours later, police said.
The robbery occurred behind the Circle K at 420 N. Coast around midnight, according to Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Cosby, who said a cell phone, wallet, jacket and skateboard were taken.
The suspects fled before officers arrived but a clerk from the store told officers taking a report that he recognized one of the robbers, Cosby said.
At 2:15 a.m., the same clerk flagged down an officer and said he had just seen the man he believed to be the robber and another man walking in the area, Cosby said, adding police soon detained two pedestrians. They were identified as Curtis Williams, 24, and Angel Garcia, 21.
The stolen cell phone was found in Williams’ pocket, Cosby said.
Upon questioning, Garcia allegedly admitted to being with Williams during the robbery. Cosby said surveillance video from the Circle K store also showed both men committing the robbery.
Williams and Garcia were each booked into jail on suspicion of robbery.
