Arrestee escapes from patrol car, captured hours later

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A young man arrested for drugs escaped from the back
of a sheriff's patrol car while being transported to jail in downtown San Diego
early Wednesday but was recaptured several hours later in Santee, authorities said.

Dylan Castle, 21, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous
drug and was en route to jail when he escaped near state Route 163 and Ash
Street around midnight, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. J.T.
Faulkner.

“He was in a patrol car,” Faulkner said. “How he got out is still
under investigation.”

Around 7:20 a.m., a 911 caller reported seeing a man matching the
description of Castle near Carlton Hills Boulevard and Carlton Oaks Drive in
Santee, said sheriff's Lt. Mike Munsey.

Deputies in the area went to the intersection and arrested Castle
without further incident, he said. The lieutenant speculated the caller
probably recognized Castle based on morning news reports.
