Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher on local opposition to border wall

As President Trump’s arrival to San Diego approaches, local Democrats are expressing their opposition to the border wall. Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher stopped by Good Morning San Diego to share what the visit means to her community.

“The president is coming to my district, which is the border district,” Gonzalez Fletcher said. “He’s coming to look at a wall, but he’s never coming to talk to the people. We have thousands of refugees in this community who have been affected by his hateful rhetoric. We have thousands of immigrant families…we have thousands of dreamers.”

Gonzalez Fletcher also cited recent data showing that the San Diego ICE field office was the only one in the country where the majority of arrests were of noncriminals.
