Attempted robbery fails

LA JOLLA (CNS) – Two gun-wielding men attempted to rob a pizza
restaurant near UC San Diego early Sunday, but the business had no money and the
would-be robbers ran off empty-handed, police said.

The two suspects demanded cash from the employees of the California
Pizza Kitchen on Villa La Jolla Drive near Morning Way shortly before 12:30
a.m. but fled because there was no cash, San Diego police Officer David
Stafford said.

Police said the suspects were both dressed in black clothing and had
their faces covered.

No one was injured, Stafford said.
