Authorities ID body dumped and set ablaze in Alpine

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Authorities Thursday released the name of a homicide victim whose body was dumped and set ablaze last weekend on a dirt road near Loveland Reservoir.

A water-department employee on his way to work came across the burning body of Kimberly Hayes, 35, in the 17500 block of Sequan Truck Trail in Alpine shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday, according to sheriff's officials.

An autopsy determined that Hayes, a Lakeside resident, had been killed, Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said.

The lieutenant declined to disclose the victim's cause of death or any other information about her, saying public release of such details could compromise his department's investigation.

On a social-networking website, Hayes identified herself as an emergency medical technician and former emergency-room worker. She posted comments last month about having to report to county jail in late February to start a custody term, though she did not mention the reason for it.
