Baltimore Orioles play game without any fans

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Wednesday marked the first time in Major League Baseball history that a home team emptied out their entire stadium before playing a game.

The Baltimore Orioles will forever be known as the first team to ever do so.

Major League Baseball has been interrupted by social unrest before, like when the Los Angeles Dodgers had home games postponed and relocated during the Rodney King riots.

But the decision to play with empty seats in Camden Yards Wednesday was a sight never before seen.

Hundreds of fans chanting, “Let us in,” at the gate watched and listened to the game from a distance as the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox made baseball history.

The Orioles would win the game 8-2, with the box score recording the game’s attendance as “2.”
