“Best thing I ever ate”
Mike Castellucci headed downtown to try a cake that is getting some national attention by a renown chef.
The Dulce de Leche Cake created by Karen Krasne's Extraordinary Desserts will be featured Monday, November 1 at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. Central) on the Food Network's hit show, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.” Highlighting what America's celebrity food stars and chefs eat when they're dining on their own, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” puts the best eats in the country right on the plate. San Diego's very own Chef Marcela Valladolid of the Food Network's “Mexican Made Easy” says that the decadent Dulce de Leche Cake from Extraordinary Desserts is the best thing she's ever eaten, and puts her money where her mouth is by showcasing this dessert on the November 1 episode of “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”
Krasne, whose extraordinary desserts earn this description with every luscious bite, regards the Dulce de Leche as one of the showstoppers in her display case. “It's one of the most popular items that we feature regularly on our menu,” she says. And no wonder: the cake features a crunchy milk chocolate confection that separates layers of creamy chocolate mousse and chocolate cake finished with a supremely satisfying topping of dulce de leche, the slow-cooked, caramelized milk that is a treasured dessert throughout Latin America. Decorated with an elaborate filigree of yet more chocolate, the cake qualifies as “the best thing I ever ate” for many Extraordinary Desserts patrons.
