Bicyclist injured after running a red light

SAN DIEGO – A bicyclist riding westbound in the 4500 block of University Avenue was hit by a Volvo after the bicyclist ran a red light on Thursday.

The bicyclist was a 35 year-old white male and sustained two fractured ankles and a possible brain bleed. He was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor.

The 33 year-old female driver of the Volvo was not injured.

Traffic Division is investigating.
