Bishops Football Coach-Athletics Director announced departure school

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – After 13 seasons Bishops School football coach Joel Allen is leaving the Knights to join his brother in business.

The outgoing coach and Athletics Director joined Good Morning San Diego to look back at his career and the last game he coached.

“Dear Bishop’s Families, It is with great sadness and excitement that I am sharing that I will no longer be Bishop’s head football coach and director of athletics. In consultation with my family, I have made the difficult decision to leave the education industry and pursue an incredible opportunity to join family and pursue a career in business. The decision was a difficult one, but I am sure that this is the right next step in my life. To say it simply, The Bishop’s School has been my second home for the past 13 years. My time at Bishop’s has been filled with so many incredible milestones, both professionally and personally. From the birth of my three children to all the amazing students, faculty, and staff, I walked the halls with. The years have gone by quickly but not without memories to last a lifetime. What I will miss the most about Bishop’s is the people – students, coaches, faculty, staff, alumni and parents. All of these groups have impacted my life in many incredible ways. I want to thank Ron and the rest of the administrative team for being so supportive of me and my family during this transition. The care shown to myself and others by so many is evidence of this very special community, and I will miss being part of it on a daily basis. My last day will be Sept. 11, 2020, but I am still Bishop’s biggest fan and look forward to seeing many of you as soon as our teams can get back to competing. Take care and go Knights!

Joel Allen Director of Athletics”
