Black History Month at the San Diego History Center

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The San Diego History Center is asking for the public’s participation as they are gathering and collecting local history.

The exhibit is on Nathan Harrison. He is the first African American homesteader in San Diego during the mid-1850s.

Because of this exhibit, we are collecting historical photos and documents from the public, to better tell the story and history, of the African American community in San Diego.

The San Diego History Center has purchased special scanning equipment to gather and preserve historical documents for the future.

The event is Feb. 8th, at 4:30 p.m. at the San Diego History Center.
