Blue Algae levels pose health risk in many Southern California lakes

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Officials warn that rising levels of blue algae can pose a risk to public health and even kill domestic animals like dogs.

At least 10 reservoirs and lakes have  reached a Danger level of algae toxins and a large number of other lakes have reached a high Cautionary level.

Lake Elsinore and Big Bear Lake have been listed as dangerious and Salton Sea is among those listed with a caution advisory. A full list can be found at www.mywaterquality.ca.gov
