Body found in Chula Vista vegetation fire identified

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The man found dead behind a Chula Vista shopping center last week has been identified.

Fire fighters found the body of 79-year-old homeless man Julio Flores while putting out a brush fire behind the 500 block of C Street.

He was found in a canyon area frequently used as a homeless encampment.

Flores’ cause of death is still unknown.

Authorities say they also don’t know if Flores died before or after the fire.
