Bomb threat prompts evacuations at La Mesa Toys R Us
LA MESA (CNS) – A bomb threat scrawled on a restroom stall at Toys R Us discovered Friday by an employee led police to evacuate the store and conduct a search of the premises which failed to find any explosive device.
At 1:04 p.m., La Mesa Police Department received a report of a bomb threat at toys R Us at 8790 Grossmont Blvd.
“An employee cleaning the restroom discovered writing on a bathroom stall indicating a bomb would go off at 2:20 p.m.,” La Mesa Police Chief Ed Aceves said.
La Mesa Police officers evacuated all employees and customers from the store and requested assistance from the Harbor Police Department to use their Explosive Detection Canine.
“The store was cleared in about 45 minutes and no device was located,” Aceves said. “About 3:19 p.m., employees and customers were allowed back into the store.”
The investigation was continuing.
