Border fire spreads to 30 acres in Dulzura area

DULZURA (KUSI) – A wildfire spread over swaths of rugged open terrain in the far southern reaches of San Diego County today.

The blaze erupted for unknown reasons about 2:30 p.m. off Marron Valley Road in the Dulzura area, about two miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, according to Cal Fire.

Within 90 minutes, the burn area had grown to roughly 30 acres, the state agency reported.

Ground crews and personnel aboard firefighting airplanes and helicopters worked to extinguish the flames, which posed no structural threats while burning across remote, hilly terrain, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said.
