Bouncer touted as hero after aiding passengers trapped in rolled-over minivan

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A bouncer of a club in the Gaslamp area rushed to the aid of passengers who were stuck in minivan after a rollover crash Friday morning.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Fifth Ave. and Broadway Downtown when one of the drivers apparently ran a red light, San Diego Fire-Rescue Batt. Chief Dave Gerboth said.

The minivan rolled, trapping several passengers inside. That is when a bouncer rushed to accident, broke out the rear window of the minivan and helped the passengers inside, according to Gerboth.

Three patients were transported to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries .

The San Diego Police Department is investigating the accident to determine what caused the crash and if alcohol or drugs could have been a factor.
