Brush fire burns six acres in North County

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A brush fire burned about six acres in the North County community of De Luz today.

Dubbed the Santa Fire by authorities, the fire’s forward rate of spread was stopped at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Ground and air units were to remain on the scene for several hours to mop up and build a containment line.

The fire began just before 1 p.m. in the 36000 block of De Luz Road, near the Santa Margarita Trail. It spread from three to five acres until it was contained to six acres. The De Luz area is near Fallbrook and contains trails used by hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

No structures were threatened, officials said.
