Brush fire erupts in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – A brush fire burning Thursday morning in Chula Vista threatened a nearby mobile home park, but no evacuations were immediately ordered.

The fire was first reported about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday in the Otay River Valley Regional Park near Faivre Street and Beyer Boulevard, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The fire was burning toward the La Palma Mobile Estates in the 2400 block of Palm Avenue, but no evacuations had been ordered.

Hollister Street between Main Street and Palm Avenue was closed, San Diego police said.

By 12:20 a.m., the fire had burned roughly two acres, but the forward rate of spread had been stopped, the news station reported.

Water-dropping helicopters assisted firefighters on the ground.

It was unclear what sparked the fire.
