Burglary suspects arrested after brief chase

RANCHO SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Five auto burglary suspects, including juveniles, led sheriff's deputies on brief chase before being arrested.

A deputy tried pulling over a white Honda Civic. which clipped a car while speeding away from the scene of a reported vehicle break-in. The driver did not yield and took off, sheriff's Sgt. David Toner said.

The driver attempted to turn left onto Fuerte Heights Lane from Jamacha Road, but struck a dirt embankment and got stuck in a nearby drainage ditch, Toner said.

There were two adults and three minors in the vehicle, four of which attempted to run away from the disabled car but were caught shortly after.
Toner said the fifth suspect was taken into custody with the help of a sheriff's dog.

Toner said the five suspects, whose names were not immediately available, would be charged with vehicle theft and vehicle burglary.
