CAL FIRE to conduct live firefighting training

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Smoke may be visible for miles in several parts of San Diego over the next few days starting on Tuesday as CAL FIRE and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife take part in live firefighting training.

The live exercises, expected to run until 4 p.m. Friday, will take place in the Rancho Jamul area. Due to the proximity of the area in which they are training, it is possible that smoke will be visible throughout the county.

Several crews will take part in the training, which will include the burning of non-native grass as part of a vegetation management project.
