California approves new sex-ed guidelines despite parent protests
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Despite protests at the State Capitol, the Department of Education unanimously approved a new health education framework for California.
In it, there are new sex ed guidelines for kindergarten through 12th grade. Among the topics now included; sex trafficking, sexual orientations and transgender options.
The framework provides guidelines for individual school districts to develop their own curriculum and resources for the student body. According to parents, this has done more harm than good.
County officials add sex education is not a requirement for graduation which means there is no penalty for opting out.
