California Republicans vote to endorse Judge Bailey for Attorney General
The California GOP convention happened over the weekend and Judge Steven Bailey was in studio to talk more about his campaign.
Judge Bailey’s campaign released the following regarding his endorsement and his strategy moving forward.
“I am humbled and incredibly honored to earn the support of the California Republican Party,” says Bailey. “It is very encouraging to see conservatives uniting in support of the leading Republican candidate for Attorney General,” he said, referring to a poll released Saturday showing him in second place in the “Top 2” primary election and leading the appointed Democrat incumbent 41.7% to 36.7% in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup.
Bailey emphasized his focus on fighting crime and advocating for crime victims, veterans, and first responders during his speech on Saturday. He credits his success to a tireless team of volunteers who helped deliver the endorsements of 25 Republican central committees ahead of the convention. “Our supporters and volunteers represent some of the very best California has to offer,” said Bailey.
Bailey’s presence was felt throughout the convention and delegates received two influential emails from the Bailey campaign calling delegates to unite behind Judge Steven Bailey — one from moderate former Congressman Tom Campbell and conservative constitutional law professor John Eastman, and another signed by Congressman Tom McClintock, State Senator John Moorlach, and Assemblyman Jay Obernolte. The Congressmen and State Legislators pointed to the 18 elected state leaders who have endorsed Judge Bailey and cited his support for law enforcement: “We can count on him to enforce the rule of law and support the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our families.”
“I am very excited about the momentum we have going into this week, when the first vote-by-mail ballots will be received,” said Bailey. “I am confident the people of California can see what nearly a decade of one-party rule in every statewide office has done to California and will unite to elect a new Attorney General, a Republican Attorney General, to bring law and order back to our state.”
Judge Steven Bailey (Ret.) is the only candidate with a background and expertise in criminal justice. He was an elected Superior Court Judge in El Dorado County for 8½ years, where he had assignments in criminal, civil, probate, and juvenile cases and served 4 years as the Presiding Juvenile Judge.
Prior to the bench, he was in private practice handling criminal and administrative law for 19 years and was a Certified Criminal Law Specialist, certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. He was also Deputy Director in charge of Legislation for the California Department of Social Services under Governor George Deukmejian.
