Caltrans considers physical barrier to prevent Coronado Bridge suicides

Caltrans has completed a study regarding physical barriers that could be used to prevent suicides at the Coronado Bridge.

The study found that 2/3 of those surveyed were in favor of adding a physical barrier to the bridge. It showcased a number of barrier options, including a wire mesh fence and a transparent panel.

Construction could cost as much as $137 million. Caltrans has previously said it would take several years to put up the barriers because of environmental impact studies and funding.
