Can Presidential Candidate Michael Bloomberg buy his way to votes in the primary?
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Michael Bloomberg 2020 presidential campaign began when the businessman and former mayor of New York City entered the race in November.
Since then he has spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars on political advertising, far outpacing all other candidates.
His campaign has spent nearly $210 million on broadcast television time, $13 million on cable, more than $1 million on radio and $27 million on digital advertising. That’s according to data from Advertising Analytics, which tracks political ad spending.
Bloomberg is worth about $60 billion and is self-funding his campaign to be president. But all his spending raises the question: Can Bloomberg buy his way to votes in our primary?
KUSI Contributor and Political Expert Joseph Perkins was in studio to discuss.
