Candidate for the 53rd District Annette Meza

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The race to replace Representative Susan Davis in the 53rd Congressional District is heating up.

Some of the top candidates are Councilwoman Georgette Gómez and Former Marine Janessa Goldbeck.

The district covers La Mesa, Lemon Grove, parts of El Cajon, Chula vista and Central San Diego neighborhoods such as Hillcrest, Grantville and North Park.

Local educator and human rights activist Annette Meza is also running for the seat in 2020 as a Democratic candidate. She was in studio to discuss her vision for the district.
