Captain Janessa Goldbeck discusses her campaign for the 53rd District Congressional seat

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Fifteen candidates are in the running for the 53rd Congressional District.

Some of the candidates in the crowded field include Democrats Georgette Gomez, Jose Caballero, Tom Wong and Sara Jacobs.

The district encompasses La Mesa, Lemon Grove, parts of El Cajon and Chula Vista and central San Diego neighborhoods such as Hillcrest, Grantville and North Park.

Candidate Janessa Goldbeck is a decorated San Diego Marine Corps Captain and co-founder of the Truman National Security Project San Diego chapter.
