Car crash in Bonsall leaves one dead
BONSALL (CNS) – The front passenger of a Honda Civic died and the driver and rear passenger suffered major injuries when the driver lost control, went off Olive Hill Road in Bonsall and crashed into a tree, a California Highway Patrol officer said Sunday.
The crash occurred at 5:20 p.m. Saturday on Olive Hill Road south of Morro Hills Road, said CHP Officer Chris Parent.
Three 18-to-20-year-old men were in the 1996 Honda Civic southbound “at a high rate of speed and entering a left curve in the roadway,” Parent said. “The driver failed to negotiate the curve and veered to the right off the roadway and collided with a tree.”
The front passenger “succumbed to his injuries,” the officer said. The driver and rear passenger were flown to Palomar Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
“The collision is still under investigation and DUI is suspected,” Parent said.
