The van, driven by 67-year-old Escondido resident Josefina Lara De Vidales, and the motorcycle collided in the vicinity of Washington Avenue and Waverly Place shortly after 1 p.m., Escondido police Lt. Justin Murphy said.

Arriving officers found Dale Fifield lying next to his wrecked motorcycle, suffering from “significant visible injuries,” Murphy said. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center.

De Vidales, who was not injured, was cited for driving without a license, the lieutenant said.
