Car thieves lead police on chase through City Heights

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – One man is in jail and another on the run after fleeing the scene of a car crash early Thursday morning.

Officers spotted a stolen 1993 Honda Accord and the two people inside the car around 3:45 a.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle. Instead of pulling over, the two occupants led police on a chase through City Heights and into University Heights.

The chase ended when the driver of one car crashed into a canyon near Adams Avenue and Mission Cliff Drive.

The second driver was arrested later in Mission Valley.
