Missing Oceanside boys found safe in Long Beach motel

OCEANSIDE (KUSI) – Tuesday 7:29 a.m. – Two missing Oceanside boys were safe Tuesday morning after allegedly being taken by one of the boy's fathers Monday afternoon following a domestic violence incident with the boy's mother.

The two boys – 9-year-old Daijon West, Jr. and 10-year-old Jamel Oliver – were located just before 5 a.m. in a motel in Long Beach following the issue of an Amber Alert.

The boys were taken from a home in the 2300 block of Greenbrier Drive just after 4 p.m. Monday afternoon. The suspect, Daijon West, Sr., was alleged to have injured his wife and make criminal threats against her before taking the boys in a 2010 Honda Accord. He was arrested at the same motel where the boys were found.

The two children were not harmed in the incident.

Monday 10:46 p.m. – The Oceanside Police Department requested a CARE Alert be issued in San Diego Monday night.

The request stems from a domestic violence investigation earlier this afternoon in the 2300 block of Greenbrier Drive.

The Oceanside Police Department is seeking the safe return of Jamel Oliver (10 years old) and Daijon West Jr (9 years old) who were last seen at approximately 1610 hours today in a vehicle driven by Daijon West (29 years old).

West, who is the father to one of the boys (West), fled the scene with the two boys after inflicting injury to his wife and making criminal threats against her. Oliver is the son of the victim.

West is believed to be armed with a firearm and driving a gray 2010 Honda Accord bearing California License Plate 6LMT598).

If located, please do not approach and dial 911.

Daijon West is 29-years-old, 6 feet tall, 180 lbs with tattoos on both sides of his neck and left arm.
