Missing Carlsbad 80-yr-old with dementia found

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — 1:40 p.m. — The 80-year-old missing Carlsbad man has been found, according to his family. 

Wednesday — An 80-year-old Carlsbad man who suffers from dementia went missing Wednesday.

Edward Matson was last seen about 9:15 a.m. at Marron Road and El Camino Real getting off a North County Transit District bus, according to police.

Matson was carrying a briefcase and was dressed in tan shorts, a white flower-print shirt and a boonie hat.

His family believes he may be traveling north, possibly to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Matson, who lives near Rancho Carlsbad Golf Club, is a 5-foot-8-inch, roughly 130-pound white man with thinning gray hair, hazel eyes and a mole on his right temple.

Anyone spotting a man matching Matson’s description was asked to call Carlsbad police at (760) 931-2197.
