Carlsbad sewage spill causes water use cut backs

Officials in Carlsbad told area residents on Tuesday to cut back on water use.

This includes flushing toilets, doing laundry and taking showers. Residents are being told to cut back during the day through 9 p.m. to minimize the strain on the sewage system and to speed up repairs.

This is all due to a rupture at a pump station at the west end of the Batiquitos Lagoon.
