Carols by Candlelight to celebrate 30th anniversary

ESCONDIDO (KUSI) – Poway Mayor Steve Vaus and daughter Anna Vaus stopped by Good Morning San Diego for a preview of the 30th annual Carols by Candlelight.

The local Carols by Candlelight was created in 1990 by Steve Vaus and Wayne Nelson with the goal of making a life-changing difference in the lives of children. Originally a free concert at Horton Plaza, the event eventually outgrew that location, moving to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts and ultimately to its current home, the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.

Anna Vaus, one of Carols by Candlelight’s many performers, gave us a sneak peek of the holiday tradition.

Carols by Candlelight will be on December 13th and 14th at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Proceeds from the event will benefit Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
