PREVIEW – The Mar Vista Mariners are looking to earn their first victory of the season during Week 2 as they are set to take on the Castle Park Trojans (1-0) this Friday night at Mar Vista High School.

The Mariners’ head coach, Tyler Arciaga, enters his fifth season with the program and looks to lead his sailors to victory this year.

Even though the green and gold did not win the battle against Monte Vista last Friday, losing 44-0, they still look to win the war as there are still nine more games remaining in the 2018 season.

Arciaga is fortunate enough to have multiple weapons such as senior quarterback, Alex Gutierrez, senior running back, Jacob Galeana, and senior wide receiver, Marcus Ramirez, to lead the attack.

On the other side of the ball, Castle Park is coming off of a huge win against the O’Farrell Charter Falcons with a final score of 55-6.

With head coach Bernard Ansolabehere earning his first victory going into his second season, he has what it takes to continue his good fortune this Friday night.

The Trojan offense combined for a total of 221 total rushing yards lead by junior fullback Chris Wright, as he rushed for 82 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Castle Park was well fortified as junior Jose Castro lead the defense with seven tackles resulting in O’Farrell only able to put up six points throughout the game.

This Friday night will be a classic battle between two well known South Bay programs as both players and coaches intend to bring out their full arsenal in order to defeat the opposition.
