Catfish opening weekend at Santee Lakes

Catfish Season Opening Weekend is coming April 7 & 8th! 2,000 pounds of Catfish with trophies will be stocked for this weekend event!

Greg Even, coordinator for the Opener, said “This event is great for everyone, including families that want to spend some quality time together. It’s also perfect for sport fishermen because there will be some trophy fish included in the stock. How to Catch a Catfish Class will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 9AM at the General Store, for people that are fishing for the first time or just want some pointers”.

There will be prizes for the top 5 largest fish caught over the two-day Catfish Season Opener.

If you catch a tagged Catfish, you will win a prize! Prizes include: fishing poles, tackle boxes, bicycles, camping gear and free fishing passes to Santee Lakes. Catfish Season runs April– October 1, 2018 with Catfish stocks of 1,000 pounds every other week.
