Cathedral 63, Scripps Ranch 7
First week of conference play kicked off at Grosvenor Stadium where the Scripps Ranch Falcons (2-3) hosted the number one team in Division I, the Cathedral Dons (5-1). It was a tough night for the Falcons, but a great night for the Dons. After four quarters of play, Cathedral beat Scripps Ranch 63-7.
Right off the back, Dons running back Adam Eastwood put Cathedral on the board after his 7 yard touchdown run putting them up 7-0 over the Falcons. Eastwood ended up with two more touchdowns that night- a 53 and 3 yard touchdown run. The second quarter was all about turnovers and interceptions. Scripps Ranch Jay Numanila-Wone snagged the first INT of the night, however the Falcons were not able to capitalized on the potential scoring opportunity. Dons dominated the first half, putting four more touchdowns on the board making the score 35-0.
Scripps Ranch came out strong after halftime. Zachary Podraza threw a short pass to Desmond Simmons who went for 80 yards to the endzone making the score 35-7, Dons still in the lead. Cathedral didn’t let the Falcons find the endzone after that. Dons defense got stronger and their offense put more points on the board. Dons ended the night with a Daniel Brennan pick 6 interception for 62 yards.
