Chargers 2015 Season Tickets on Sale – But Will You Buy In?
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – In any other year, news of the San Diego Chargers releasing their season tickets would be met with enthusiasm, seen as a bright spot in the long offseason months between games.
However, 2015 has not been an ordinary year for the Bolts so far.
The quest for a new stadium is the big story, and it seems that each side – the city of San Diego and the team itself – has separate interests. While the team prefers the potential glitz and glamour of a downtown site, the Citizens’ Stadium Advisory Group has selected the the existing Mission Valley site as its destination. Exacerbating the matter, of course, is the lingering possibility that the team may leave for Carson after next season to share a brand-new stadium with another team.
On the team personnel front, rumors have emerged over the last several days linking the Chargers, the Tennessee Titans, and the Titans’ second overall pick in this month’s NFL Draft. The other piece of the puzzle? Longtime Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who himself has expressed little interest in moving out of San Diego. Many national media pundits have suggested the Chargers send a package deal that includes Rivers (who is entering the final year of his contract) and either picks or players to the Tennessee Titans for the number two pick where, if the draft plays out as planned, they would draft Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota. And who did the Chargers’ brass fly up to see earlier in the week? None other than Mariota.
But with all of the uncertainty floating around, the question remains – will you buy season tickets to the Chargers in 2015?
There are very few live sporting events that can compare to professional football, and as one of 32 cities with an NFL team, interest in football is always high. The gameday experience is unlike anything else the city can offer. While it remains to be seen what the roster will look like when the season starts, the Chargers certainly do have their share of exciting and nationally recognized players. In addition, buying season tickets works out better in the long term than single game prices.
2015 will no doubt be a pivotal year for the Chargers franchise – will you be there to witness it in person?
