Chick-Fil-A Game of the Week: Helix Highlanders 28, Rancho Bernardo Broncos 10

That’s it for the Chick-Fil-A Game of the Week as the Helix Highlanders beat the Rancho Bernardo Broncos 28 to 10. Helix advances to the championship game where they will play the Dons of Cathedral Catholic High School.

This game started off slow as both teams were scoreless in the first quarter. Once the second quarter started that’s where things started to get exciting, well at least for Helix. Helix gets on the board first, Carson Baker throws a 72 yard touchdown pass to Scott Young. Then later in the quarter 2016 Prep Pigskin Report Silver Pigskin Player of the Year Candidate Ezekiel Noa scores a rushing touchdown making the score 14 to 0 Helix. Ezekiel also had another rushing touchdown later in the game and on defense he had a sack. For Scott Young he also had a sack on defense. The Chick-Fil-A MVP of the Game went to Scott Young he had one receiving touchdown, over 100 yards receiving, and a sack.

For the Broncos their 2016 Prep Pigskin Report Silver Pigskin Player of the Year Milan Grice had a rushing touchdown in this game. The Broncos were held to only 10 points tonight. As the Helix defense came ready to play. As for the Broncos they had a great season, but just fell a little short. They should be really proud of their 20 game winning streak, but also how they played all season. They lost to a great Helix team. Keep your heads up high Broncos.

Tonight’s game ended not too well on both sides of the ball as for both Milan Grice and Ezekiel Noa suffered right knee injuries. Thoughts and prayers are with them hopefully their injuries are not that serious and they both have a speedy recovery.

PREVIEW-The Chick-Fil-A Game of the Week is the #2 seed Highlanders of Helix High School hosting the #3 seed Rancho Bernardo Broncos in the Open Division Semi Finals. This game is going to be extra special because this game includes two 2016 Prep Pigskin Report Silver Pigskin Player of the Year Candidates. Those two players are Milan Grice of Rancho Bernardo and Ezekiel Noa of Helix.

Rancho Bernardo is undefeated this season and will like to keep it that way. A key of their success is their star running back Milan Grice. Grice this season has 18 rushing touchdowns and averages 158 yards per game. Last week in the quarterfinals against Oceanside he carried the ball 34 times and rushed for 177 yards including 2 touchdowns. Grice is the Leader of this offense. Another reason why the Broncos are undefeated is their defense. Last week against Oceanside they shut them out beating them 24 to 0. If Grice continues to be a beast on the field and their defense plays how they been playing all season, Helix is going to have some trouble.

For Helix their star player Ezekiel Noa is one reason why they’re having a successful season. Noa plays both sides of the ball. On offense his position is running back and on defense he’s a linebacker. On offense he has 8 total touchdowns, 6 rushing and 2 receiving. On defense let’s just say you don’t want to go his way. Noa is a phenomenal athlete. Helix’s defense is also a reason why they’re having a great season. In their quarterfinal game against Valhalla they also shut them out beating them 14 to 0. Ezekiel Noa is not just the leader of this defense, but he’s the leader of this team. If Noa can also continue his Spectacular style of play and their defense can shut down Milan Grice, Rancho Bernardo is going to have a long drive back home.

Both these teams know it’s WIN or GO HOME! You can catch these highlights at 10:30 pm on Friday Night on KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report.
