6-year-old boy hit by car while on his way to school

San Diego – 10:17 a.m. – The child struck by a car this morning was a 6-year-old boy and his father was also hit. The two were walking to Monte Vista Elementary School.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m., according to Deputy Chief Ned Vander Pol of the Vista Fire Department.

The boy’s father also sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Vander Pol said the driver stopped after the crash and was cooperating with investigators, Vander Pol said.

Friday 9:29 a.m. – A child was injured after being hit by a car in Vista Friday morning, according to police.

The incident happened on the 1700 block of Monte Vista Drive in Vista. The child’s age and gender were not immediately reported.

Officials say the child was airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital but have not released his condition or the extent of his or her injuries.

The cross streets of Monte Vista Rd., Range View Rd., and Valley Drive are all near the campus of Monte Vista Elementary School.
