Christian High School student, Jason Lyon, passes away

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – 17 year-old Jason Lyon passed away after a long and valiant fight with brain cancer Thursday.

Lyon was diagnosed last spring with an inoperable brain tumor on his brain stem, according to Christian High School’s Athletic Director David Beezer, in an interview with KUSI Sports Director, Paul Rudy.

Lyon was a tri-sport athlete for the Christian High School Patriot. He was honored by the entire Patriot football team on October 2, as the team wore a special jersey with "Lyonhearted" embroidered on its front in its game against Patrick Henry High School. Christian won the game 34-26.

In a tight-knit community of less than 400 students, Lyon’s passing comes as a major shock to the staff and students. The Christian High community has been understandably rocked by this news, with many friends posting on Lyon’s personal Facebook page, expressing messages of support for the family.
