Christmas Day closures

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Federal, state, county and city offices will be closed Thursday for the Christmas holiday.

Administrative offices, libraries, recreation centers and pools will be closed across the county.

The closures include some facilities normally open on holidays, including the Miramar Landfill, Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center, and Chollas Lake. Each will reopen on Friday, though libraries are working on special hours through New Year’s Day.

San Diego’s municipal golf courses at Balboa Park, Torrey Pines and Mission Bay will be open, according to the city. The Balboa Park and Torrey Pines links are scheduled to close at 3 p.m., and the Mission Bay course at 5 p.m.

Trash service will be delayed one day. Parking meters in San Diego will not be enforced.

County campgrounds and neighborhood parks will remain open, but other county offices will be shut down for the day.

According to the city of Chula Vista, libraries and recreation centers will operate on special schedules throughout the holiday week and return to regular hours Jan. 2.

The animal shelter in the South Bay city is being renovated, so it will be closed for most services through Dec. 29. The facility will still accept stray animal drop-offs, assist in returning lost pets and provide emergency euthanasia upon request.

The Metropolitan Transit System’s trolleys will run every half-hour. MTS buses will work on a Sunday schedule, with no service on the Rapid Express, Rapid 237 or Sorrento Valley Coaster Connection routes.

The North County Transit District will offer Sunday scheduled for its buses, and Coaster and Sprinter trains.
