Chula Vista DUI checkpoint in effect this weekend
CHULA VISTA (CNS) – A checkpoint intended to curb drunken driving will
be in operation in Chula Vista this weekend, police announced Friday.
The checkpoint operation will run from 6 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday,
according to Chula Vista police, who withheld the exact location.
Motorists arrested on suspicion of drunken driving face the prospect of
jail time, loss of driving privileges, significant insurance increases and
other expenses.
In addition to checking for drunken drivers, officers will be looking to
see that all motorists have valid driver's licenses, police said. Those who
do not could have their vehicles temporarily seized at their expense.
